Back to the Desert; Desert Vacation Part 6

The night of Mom's accident, we ended up staying in a motel. It was nice to get showers, but we had nothing with us so we had to get back into our dirty clothes. I didn't even have a comb or toothbrush. It was an economy hotel, so they didn't provide any of these things. Oh well. At least we all got showers and a bed to sleep in. The next morning, Saturday, we headed back down to the desert to get Larry loaded up with all their stuff so he could head back to Pendleton. Since Stacie was headed to Bend to be with Mom, we decided to finish our vacation and finish buttoning up the trailer for the winter for Mom and Larry. Larry got another flat on his way up to the trailer. No worries, Michael and Hailey were on the job!

It took us awhile to get Larry loaded up and headed out. He only made it back to Burns that day because he was so tired. It was super windy that day. After Larry left, we all took a break and Michael read a Dr. Seuss book to the kids while I fixed dinner.

Josiah really wanted to go for another ride, but we didn't have a chance until sunset. Michael road a short distance to the point and back. Check out this sunset with a section of the Steens mountain in the backdrop! This is what we got to see every evening. It is truly spectacular.

After we got our tired little girl into bed, we let Josiah stay up late and look at the moon and stars with the telescope. The wind had died down and it was a full moon that night, so we got a really good view of all the craters and such. There isn't any light pollution out there so you can really see the constellations really well. I can tell you well all slept good that night!

Your vacation had a lot of ups and downs- seems to be the way of life.

The sunset is gorgeous. That would be worth the entire trip for me. So glad you have photos to remember and enjoy.

What a beautful sunset! I am glad the accident did not scare Josiah into not wanting to ride anymore.
