Homeschool Show and Tell Time

Our Christian home educators group (UCCHE) decided to start a once a week Show and Tell time. It was awesome! The purpose is to teach kids to present to their peers and also how to listen when another is presenting. Valuable skills indeed. It was so great because all ages of kids were invited to participate, even the toddlers. I think one of the things I love about homeschooling the most is that kids are learning from kids of all ages, not from just their own age group.

Josiah took his Thankful Tree to show everyone. He did a great job of explaining all the different things we had put on our tree. Because he was presenting, he insisted on wearing a nice shirt and tie with his dress shoes. It was so cute! Hailey presented us with a short little dance.

Here are all the kids (happened to be 6 years and under) who participated the first time we got together for Show and Tell day. They are showing off their things they had created or read. Some brought their favorite toys or books. I loved how all the parents were so encouraging to each child. I think it is great for homeschool kids to get some praise from people besides mom and dad. I'm so glad I get to be a part of this awesome group!

  3. It originally start out as once a month, but it sounds like we are going to combine it with our homeschoolers' library time, so that would make it once a week. I'm so excited because think this will keep Josiah's creative juices going.

  4. Those are precious photos of the children! I sing high praises for homeschool parents. Our son went to Christian school because I was working, and then my grandgirls did too, til last year, and now they're in public school...it breaks my heart! I cover them in prayer and teach them what I can when they're here, but they're missing so much...public school is void of any social graces or encouraging participation in anything except homework for hours on end.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your precious family...may God bless you abundantly, and keep your husband safe and sound!

  6. I can just see Josiah getting all excited to be able to share something with others. He kind of reminds me of Bethany in that way!

    Have a great Thanksgiving!

  11. I loved this! I am so glad your homeschool is teaching kids this very important lesson. They looked as if they really enjoyed it. How cute that your son wanted to dress up while he presented his tree. And I'm with you, I think this will keep their creative juices going.

I also love the way our kids learn from kids of all ages and not only their own age group. You will appreciate it more when they get older and can get along with an adult or toddler and still have a genuinely great time.

    Blessings,
    JEN

  12. Yeah! What a fun group! I recognized all of the kids. Great group of kids and parent involved! Where did you do the show and tell? Is Oliva in it to, or just Mason?

  13. Frogs and Freckles,
Nope Olivia and Mason both participated. It is so cool that you recognized all the kids. You are right, every one of them is a MOPS kid! Didn't realize that till you pointed it out. We are going to start having this at the library every Friday to coincide with the homeschool libary time. Great to hear from you!
