Not only did we do the green toilet water thing, we made avocado pancakes again. I don't use dyes in my cooking, so I've learned to get creative. Everyone automatically makes a face when I talk about avocado pancakes. Seriously, don't knock it until you've tried it. They are delicious!

Here they are folks! The kids just love these. I usually drizzle a little more honey over everything.
My son finally found his wallet at the bottom of his toy box. It still had all his Christmas money in it, so he had enough to buy a new Lego set. He was ecstatic! Can't believe how fast he's getting at building fairly complicated stuff.
Hailey got a beginner set of Supermags. These things are so cool! She was making bracelets and all kinds of things out of it. Best part is: they stick together!
After that we went to a Christian book fair. Oh man, I couldn't have absolutely gone nuts in there! Well, I kind of did. I found a whole bunch of Creation-based science books that looked so fun and they weren't too expensive. I bought these 7 books (a couple of these came with small workbooks), plus a dinosaur workbook. I'm learning that our family really loves science, so I'm going with it. I'm thinking about starting a Creation science class next year for our homeschool group. Now I've got plenty of resources! These books should last us clear through high school. What a blessing!
Hope you all had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day and had a chance to teach your kids about how God used St. Patrick to introduce His son to Ireland. What an awesome day to celebrate!
God Bless,
Jackie
Pancakes looks good, Jackie; and the avacado butter sounds delicious too!
ReplyDeleteJackie,
ReplyDeleteThe pancakes look wonderful. I love the idea of avocado to get the color! We have Legos and those supermags too. Love them. They are great toys. And of course, can anyone have too many books? Hope you have a wonderful day!
Do they taste like avocado? Cuz' I'm not much of a fan, but I know there's all kinds of nutrients and good fat in them that kids especially need.
ReplyDeleteLego and magnet toys are always so much fun. Just make sure she keeps those things out of her mouth. If she swallowed more than one it could lead to serious problems.
Glad you found so many resources. It's hard to stop yourself from buying a lot of things when you know you can use them all.
Ruth,
ReplyDeleteI don't think the pancakes taste like avocado at all. The avocado butter is where you get your avocado flavor. Avocados are very good for growing kids and it might be a good way to sneak in some extra nutrients into your pancakes.
This is a neat idea! I wouldn't have thought of adding them to pancakes, will have to try this. Thanks for sharing! Great pics!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Jill
What a great idea, Jackie! :) I love the cloverleaf shape too! :) We had green eggs & ham and of course read the story! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a find at the book sale too! I LOVE books also!
Every year, I say I'm going to turn my toilet gree like Jackie and then forget!! Ugh!
ReplyDeleteIt was great to catch up on your blog. That is funny Josiah finding his wallet at the bottom of the toy chest. Sounds like my kids.
Science is huge around here too. I bet you're great with it since you have a soil background. I need to find me one of those Christian book fairs...

ReplyDeleteRachel,
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, Hailey got a hold of the dye while I wasn't looking and got some of it on the white toilet seat. Now we have green stains that won't come off. Urgghh! So if you're going to use dye, make sure you have sole control ;)
Those pancakes look great my daughter and I would love them!
ReplyDeleteI am going to have to try those! How neat! We love avocados here, so what a neat idea!
ReplyDeleteStephanie
avocado butter... now that sounds pretty good!
ReplyDeleteDid I do something wrong? I was so excited to make these this morning. My pancakes only cooked on the outside. They were mushy on the inside no matter how long I cooked them. I used buttermilk. What did you use?
ReplyDeleteSherry,
ReplyDeleteHum. I use buttermilk, too. I don't know! Maybe turn down the heat and let it cook longer? I usually cook mine on medium low heat. Hope that helps! Blessings, Jackie
